Web & UX/UI Design
My Role: Web Designer, UX/UI Designer, Art Director, & Evaluator
Challenges
We aimed to develop a website accessible to past, present, and prospective BYU bassoon students. With no additional funding for technology infrastructure beyond BYU’s resources, we sought cost-free solutions. Additionally, we had to address copyright concerns while ensuring our webpages remained freely accessible, without requiring a login.
Deliverables
- Wireframes for the website
- An all-new, purpose-built website
- Custom instructional graphics
- App design & prototype

Interactive App Prototype

I used Conate software to deliver the Decision-based Learning (DBL) content to the students. During development, I realized that an app would be a better way for students to access the DBL model. This prototype shows what is possible with the app. With proper funding, this app may become a reality.
Evaluation
Our comprehensive suite of professional services caters to a diverse clientele, ranging from homeowners to commercial developers.
Initial Survey
- We surveyed students about their current ability to meet our learning goals
- We wanted to see if the students felt more empowered to make reeds after using the materials on bassoonreeds.byu.edu
Follow-up Survey
- We surveyed the students one semester after the initial survey
- Our data showed that we met our learning goals
- With time and larger sample sizes, we expect students to continue to learn and benefit from basoonreeds.byu.edu
